Sexual dependence, also known as sexual addiction, is a disorder characterized by compulsive and recurrent sexual behavior that interferes with a person’s daily life and can cause significant distress. People with sexual addiction often find it difficult to control their sexual behavior and may feel the constant need to engage in sexual behaviors, even if this results in negative consequences for themselves or others.

Sexual addiction can take many forms, including excessive masturbation, multiple sexual relationships, compulsive sexual fantasies, pornography, visits to sex workers, or excessive and compulsive use of dating apps. People with sex addiction may feel shame, guilt and confusion about their behavior, which can lead them to avoid treatment.

Treatment for sex addiction can include a combination of individual therapy, group therapy, medication and community support. It’s important for people suffering from sexual addiction to seek help and receive appropriate treatment to overcome their compulsive behavior and regain a healthy, balanced sex life.

Just because you consume “a lot” of porn doesn’t mean you’re addicted.
